COURSE OVERVIEW

Learn the controlled workflow behind CNC diamond-cut alloy wheel finishing.

A two-day machine-specific programme for technicians who want practical training in CNC diamond cutting for alloy wheels. The course focuses on assessment, machine setup, wheel positioning, establishing a reliable reference, profile/cut planning, controlled machining, finish inspection and understanding when a wheel should not be cut again.

Diamond cutting is a precision process. The quality of the result depends on the wheel being suitable, the machine being set correctly and the operator making disciplined decisions before the tool ever touches the face. Stage 3 is designed around the specific CNC machine/control environment used for the training, giving learners a structured route through setup, machining and post-cut quality checks.

WHO IT'S FOR

Designed for people serious about developing professional wheel skills.

✓

Experienced alloy wheel refurbishers adding diamond-cut capability.

✓

Businesses investing in a compatible CNC wheel lathe and needing operator training.

✓

Technicians who already prepare and refinish wheels but need machine-specific CNC guidance.

✓

Stage 1 learners progressing into precision specialist finishing.

✓

Existing CNC wheel operators who want a more disciplined setup and quality-control workflow.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

What this course is designed to help you develop.

This is a specialist course. Previous wheel-refurbishment experience is strongly recommended. If you are new to the trade, Stage 1 provides the foundation needed to understand the preparation and finishing stages around CNC machining.

01

Assess whether a wheel is an appropriate candidate for another diamond cut before machining.

02

Understand the training machine’s controls, operating sequence and key setup considerations.

03

Position and secure a wheel correctly within the training machine’s intended workflow.

04

Establish a reliable reference/profile for the cut using the machine-specific process taught.

05

Plan conservative machining passes designed to restore the face while avoiding unnecessary material removal.

06

Recognise warning signs during machining and stop/reassess rather than forcing a cut.

07

Inspect the machined face for consistency, tool marks and areas requiring further attention.

08

Understand the post-machining preparation required before the wheel moves into its protective finishing stage.

COURSE CONTENT

A detailed look at the training programme.

01

Suitability Assessment

Review the wheel before machining: previous cuts, damage, corrosion, geometry and other factors that may make another cut inappropriate.

02

Machine Orientation

Become familiar with the specific CNC machine/control environment used on the course, including the normal operating sequence and operator checks.

03

Wheel Mounting & Reference

Cover secure positioning, alignment and the process used on the training machine to establish a reliable working reference.

04

Profile / Cut Planning

Understand how the wheel face is mapped or referenced on the specific system and how a sensible cut strategy is prepared before machining begins.

05

Controlled Machining

Work through conservative passes, observing the cut, surface consistency and tool behaviour rather than removing more material than necessary.

06

Edges, Details & Complex Faces

Discuss how spoke shape, transitions and wheel design influence the machining strategy and final appearance.

07

Inspection & Fault Recognition

Assess the machined surface for consistency, remaining defects, tool marks and signs that the operation should be stopped or reconsidered.

08

Post-Cut Finishing Workflow

Understand how the freshly machined face fits into the wider refurbishment process and the importance of prompt, appropriate protective finishing.

COURSE STRUCTURE

How the training is organised.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Stage 3 CNC Diamond Cutting FAQs

What does machine-specific mean?

The practical training is based on the CNC machine/control system used during the course. Other machines can use different controls, software and setup procedures.

Do I need refurbishment experience first?

Previous refurbishment experience is strongly recommended because diamond cutting is only one part of a complete wheel-refinishing process.

Can every diamond-cut wheel be cut again?

No. Previous cuts, wheel condition, damage and remaining material all matter. Assessment comes before machining.

Is this mainly software training?

No. The course combines machine/control understanding with physical wheel assessment, setup, cut planning, practical machining and finish inspection.

What happens after I book?

Choose a Monday–Friday training date before adding the course to your basket. The selected date and your contact information are recorded with the WooCommerce order so machine-specific joining details can be sent to you.
